Building Beyond Socials Reveals a New Phase in Entrepreneurship

Exploring New Ventures

It was around November 2023 when I first seriously began considering whether property development would be a good idea. At that time, I was really fired up, but I had no idea about the mental transition it would take for me. It was all still in the realm of marketing, and it’s not like I hadn’t worked in different sectors, but I suppose it felt different because I was using social media to build up a property business that I would be fully involved in. There was more pressure on me to find landlords and spaces that would meet tenants’ needs.

It’s been a few months now, and maybe there is still capacity for me to be a social media marketing expert.

One thing is for sure, there was a book I was writing. I say was because, as you can imagine, with the mental transition and figuring out what I want from life, it got a bit left behind. Even though, in the back of my mind, I know I had to finish what I started. So, more updates on that soon.

Entrepreneurial Innovation Beyond Social Media

But I’m honestly finding being on socials kind of weird right now. It’s changed, and I think I’m at a stage where I care even less about the attention and just want to give the best that I can.

In the past, I think I posted to stay visible and top of people’s minds, and I suppose the likes and the comments are an indicator of how well you are doing. I’m not saying I do not want that; I’m just not as feverish anymore. And if I’m honest, there’s a lot of stuff that I just don’t like anymore. Or maybe I should rephrase that. What I mean to say is, I don’t find it stimulating. Not to say it’s not good content, just not for me.

Beyond Digital Entrepreneurship for Growth

Marketing is quite effective offline, and actually, I have been doing a lot of that recently with UMove, which is proving successful. And networking – tons of networking. Most of the time in business, it’s not what you know but who you know, and I have found that a lot of my business contacts are coming from within the circle that I know. So, if there’s anything I would advise people, it’s don’t limit yourself to socials. Get out there. Meet like-minded people. You never know what it could amount to in the future.

I personally know a ton of people who are never on socials but run multi-million-pound businesses. In fact, for the sake of their clients, they don’t want to be online. Things are a bit more hush-hush in some business worlds, and I’m embracing that.

Someone shared on socials yesterday that they grind in the background and shine on socials. So, it may not look like they are doing anything, but they have found it works best for them to keep tight-lipped about things for it to run smoothly. Interesting concept, I thought. Maybe I need to adopt more of that or at least strike a balance.

I know, I know, socials are where it’s at and how we connect globally, but it’s not everything. You can grind in private too and still be successful. Remember that.
